5 B&M Bargains bathroom accessories to brighten up your downstairs loo

Don’t spend a fortune on finishing touches – transform your downstairs loo with these B&M Bargains bathroom accessories!

Today I’m sharing the amazing B&M Bargains bathroom accessories you need in your life.

Let’s be honest: the finishing touches are often the most exciting part of redecorating a room. My partner did all of the tiling on our downstairs loo himself, which was excellent for the budget. However, it did mean that the job was done in dribs and drabs and took way longer than it would if a professional was doing it. By the time it was done I was pretty much chomping at the bit to get it finished.

B&M – perfect for budget-friendly finishing touches

I didn’t want to spend a ton of money on this room and so I was excited to see what budget-friendly finishing touches I could add once all the big jobs were out of the way. Because while I loved the crisp white metro tiles and the new sink and its fancy black tap, honestly, it still looked bland AF.

Yes, everything was nice and neutral but it was crying out for something to finish it off. So I headed out to B&M to see what bargains I could pick up to complete the look in my downstairs loo.

Here’s the B&M Bargains bathroom accessories I ended up buying…

5 B&M Bargains bathroom accessories

1) Rattan shelf

I’m a huge fan of rattan and I have numerous rattan pieces dotted through the house. A chest of drawers in the bedroom for my endless piles of clothes. A bench that doubles up as a TV console. A tiny rattan tray that houses pointless objects in my living room. Rattan always adds a little something to a room which is why it’s one of my favourite textures.

That’s why when I clocked this rattan shelf in B&M I was drawn to it like a magnet. There was one in natural wood and one with black edging, and after much internal debate I opted for the natural wood version. I probably had enough black in the loo already!

2) Round mirror

I love a round mirror. I already have one in my main bathroom upstairs. Having pulled out the glass squares that had formed the mirror in its previous incarnation, the room looked a lot smaller. A mirror was essential, but I was struggling when it came to shape. Should I go square? Oblong? How about the rattan hexagonal mirror that I’d spotted?

In the end, I opted for a round black mirror from B&M. I went for black because I knew the rattan shelf would sit next to it and I was worried about going overkill on wood. This mirror is pretty inoffensive and I love how the shape breaks up all the square angles in the rest of the bathroom. It was also a bargain at £12 and you can’t argue with that!

3) Faux plants

I’ve pretty much given up on real plants as I can’t seem to keep them alive. Even the super glossy cheese plant I bought last year is now a shadow of its former self. The downstairs loo doesn’t even have a window so there was no chance I was getting a real plant for this space. So in the end I picked up a tiny faux succulent and a larger plant for the floor.

The faux succulent is just a tiny little thing I wanted to sit on the shelf to add interest. This one cost £2 and is doing everything I need it to do! On the floor, I wanted to have a plant that would add a pop of freshness to the room and would catch your eye as soon as you opened the door. The natural basket material made this one stand out for me.

4) Soap dispenser

Nothing ruins a look more than a big plastic bottle of Carex with bright blue liquid in it. I decided to try and be a proper grown-up for this bathroom and buy a stylish soap dispenser. There were so many to choose from in B&M – I really liked the faux concrete one they had in stock and I definitely swithered – but in the end the pattern won me around.

Everything else is fairly simple in the bathroom and I thought if I went for a plainer one it may have looked a bit bland. I really like the pattern and texture of this one and I definitely think it looks way more expensive than it is! I’m not a huge fan of chrome so I may end up spray painting the chrome on this brushed brass to make it look even more pricey.

5) Toilet brush holder

OK, this is definitely not the most glamorous of all the objects you have in your bathroom but it’s still essential. The yucky plastic one I had before looked cheap and nasty and it had also been covered in gobs of grouting during the tiling process. Luckily B&M came to the rescue with a number of toilet brush holders that looked a lot more expensive than they were – there were probably two or three I could have picked for my bathroom.

After much deliberation I went for a really simple charcoal toilet brush holder. You definitely don’t want this to be the item in the room that’s commanding a lot of attention and so I thought this shade would blend in nicely with the charcoal floor tiles.

What other finishing touches did I add?

You may have spotted that there are a couple of items in the bathroom that I’ve included that I haven’t talked about yet. Here are the details and where they’re from…

Gayle Mansfield print

I’m a huge fan of Gayle Mansfield and I have followed her on Instagram for a long time. She’s known for her stylish, minimalist typography prints which make every space instantly pop. I have a number of them dotted around my house already.

When I saw this ‘Oui Oui’ print I knew it would be perfect for the space. Not only did it elevate the room but I also loved the playfulness of it. Going for a wee with a little print that reads ‘Oui Oui’ on the wall next to you did not go unnoticed by my friends!

Wicker belly basket

I’m a huge fan of a wicker basket for hiding my sins, and by that I mean my mess! Whether it’s dog toys, shoes, or just random assortments of stuff, baskets are great for making everything just look a bit neater – and they work in every room in your house.

I also knew that this bathroom space was way too small to add in a toilet roll holder without looking cluttered. Luckily this wicker basket fitted nicely under the sink and even left me enough room to keep my faux plant for that little glimpse of greenery.

And that’s it, that’s my finished downstairs loo!

Those were my B&M Bargains bathroom accessories. What’s the best homeware bargain you’ve ever got out of B&M?
